Ecoguide training – Bhitarkanika, Orissa

Our Work

The Naturalist School was approached by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to conduct an Eco-guide Training program at Mangrove sites of Bhitarkanika, Orissa.

This 5 day program was conducted as a skill development and capacity building program for the beneficiaries, largely boat crew, from five nearby villages, at this eco tourism site. Participants were identified by the local partner APOWA for this semi-residential training course. The sessions were held at the Bhitarkanka Jungle camp with practical session in and around the campus along with boat safaris around Kanika island.

All the participants across all days were very enthusiastic participants. They listened actively and asked questions and were keen on working in groups. The participants also displayed greater interest and engagement in learning through experiential methods. The training was delivered in Hindi and Odiya.
