About the Course:
The Citizen Naturalist program is a certification course recognised by the MoEF&CC (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change), under Mission LiFE, with the mission to nudge individual and community action to protect and preserve the environment. The course is designed for individuals passionate about nature and keen to contribute to environmental awareness.
This program provides citizens with essential knowledge and skills to observe, document, and share information about local biodiversity. Participants will gain hands-on experience in species identification, ecological understanding, and conservation practices, enabling them to act as advocates for natural heritage in their communities.
The course emphasizes practical fieldwork, empowering participants to contribute to citizen science initiatives and environmental stewardship. It’s ideal for those looking to make a meaningful impact while connecting deeply with nature.

The course will build on generic guiding skills including knowledge of ecotourism industry, role and responsibilities of a guide, interpretation skills, safety and risk management skills, group management & more
One of the main roles of a naturalist is to help humans understand the natural world and to help them to form a positive, sustainable relationship with their environment. Good interpretation should be able to establish a connection between the audience and the object of interpretation.
When used effectively, interpretation is persuasive and can prompt people to make changes in their thinking and behaviour.
